STANFORD THOMPSON

William Stanford Thompson, 77, died November 12, 2009. Stanford was born in Fort Smith on February 18, 1932. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict, worked in the family business of Thompson-Blackwell Realty, and subsequently made a career in the field of law enforcement, retiring in 1996 after serving 27 years with the Nueces County Sheriff's office, when he moved to Leakey, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Melissa, and his son Jerry of Corpus Christi, Texas, predeceased by his daughter, Melissa Suzann Thompson Wheeler. He has one granddaughter (Tanya Horton) and three great-grandchildren (Brandon Wheeler, Carlie Horton and Colby Horton), all of Harper, Texas.
